🟡 Safety Car Protocols
The race director must approve the Safety Car. A Safety Car in our races is similar to a virtual safety car, however the leader of the race acts as the Safety Car.
In order for Safety Car conditions be enacted, there must be at least 3 votes for a safety car. Safety car voting is done through voice chat.
When a safety car is deployed, the leader of the race has 15 seconds to slow down to 100kph to allow others behind to catch up and form a queue.
There is to be no overtaking during the safety car period, unless a racer wishes to redress a position.
- Only the instigating car is allowed to redress under these circumstances, and they should drop positions until they are behind the cars that have been affected as a result of their actions.
Irresponsible calls for a safety car can be subject to a post-race penalty after investigation.
- Irresponsible calls may include: No significant incident occurring, voting more than once on the same proposal, voting after binning it.
🔴 Race Direction
The designated @Race Director is @nakarinova, or any additional event specific Exec/Subcom spectators. While all racers are allowed to vote for a safety car, the race director is allowed further directives, this being:
-
Safety car duration, should the safety car lasts more than one lap.
-
Red flags, such as a multi car accident on the opening lap or technical issues.
-
White flags, indicating that the final lap of the race has commenced.
-
Safety car voting will be disabled to ensure a green flag finish to the end of the race.
🟢 Race Starts and Restarts
The Starting Grid for the Sprint Race is determined by the previous Qualifying Session. There is no formation lap for the Sprint Race!
The Starting Grid of the Showcase Race is determined by the finishing order of the** Sprint Race**, with the top 5 being REVERSED.
- There will be a formation lap to sort this out.
Red flags stars/restarts are in side by side formation, either rolling or standing as directed by the race director.
Yellow flag (Safety Car) restarts are single file.
In the case of a rolling/safety car restart, the leader of the race will have control over when to go. However, they must await the 'safety car in' signal from the @Race Director in order to do so. There is to be no overtaking before the start/finish line.
- Should there be cars yet to catch the safety car queue, it is on them to catch up in time. The cars already in the queue do not have to wait for people behind unless they wish to redress a position.
If the leader enters the pits on a safety car restart, race restart control is given to the next car in line.
If the leader or any racer loses their position in the queue due to an unforced driving error under safety car or safety car restart, they cannot return to the same position in the queue and must concede their lost positions should they have been overtaken.
👮♂️ Pit Lane Entry/Exit and Start Finish Line
There is no speed limit when entering the pit lane.
Crossing the pit entry or exit blend line may be subject to a post-race penalty were it used to gain an unfair advantage or cause an incident.
🟢Race Format and 🅿️ Pit Stops
At every racetrack we go to:
There will be a 12 minute qualifying session. 🔥
There is a Sprint Race (est. 12 mins) with NO formation lap and NO mandatory pit stops.🚫
There is a Showcase Race (est. 30 mins) with a formation lap and a mandatory pit stop with a change of tyres! ✋
Racers are always free to pit for a fresh change of tyres during a Safety Car, or even during Safety Car restarts. 💛
